MIKE'S AT VENETIA

Outlasting folks in the restaurant industry, especially in Downtown, is no easy feat but Mike’s at Venetia is doing it, and with a view to boot. The sports bar evokes the feel of a traditional Irish bar except outside the view of Biscayne Bay and the skyline is a dead giveaway that this is Miami.

Sports fans can get their fix here, watching their favorites on one of their Hi-Def televisions. They show all NFL games, feature College Saturdays including the Hurricanes games and are the place to catch NBA action especially the Miami Heat. Even an international sport like soccer is a big hit here.

To go along with all the sports action is a menu filled with daily specials, appetizers, entrees and desserts plus, a selection of bottle and tap beers as well as a full liquor bar. Everything on the menu here is made fresh and they even plan to add pizza soon.

Here’s a menu sampling:

Entrees include fresh fish prepared grilled or blackened and served with a side of rice and vegetables; Fish ‘n Chips; Baby back ribs and a variety of pasta dishes like primavera or lasagna

Sandwiches include reuben, chicken breast, open-faced roast beef, black ‘n bleu chicken, tuna melt and French dip to name a few Burgers and dogs include half or third-pound burgers topped with cheese, bacon, mushrooms or a combo and grilled quarterpound hot dogs topped with choice of chili, cheese or both

Featured specials like barbecue pork loin and fried shrimp platter make up more than 11 choices
