Gables Diner.... Comfort Food With A Gourmet Touch!! Gables Diner in Coral Gables puts out good old American comfort foot with a gourmet twist. Translated to your plate, that means a Reuben Sandwich comes ‘California style’ with coleslaw instead of sauerkraut, your Philly Cheesecake is pimped up with Black Angus Tenderloin and the meatloaf has been asked to pick up his stuff and leave because a very popular and healthier ‘Turkeyloaf’ made him obsolete. The ‘Holy Smoke Cheeseburger’ topped with Apricot-Barbeque sauce also comes out looking very yummy. Gables Diner is very much in style with early birds looking for their eggs and high- powered Floridians reportedly walk through the door for lunch or diner on a daily basis. The reason might be the ‘Monte Cristo’ sandwich with roasted Turkey, imported Polish Ham, Swiss and Cheddar cheese on Brioche bread with Vermont Maple Syrup. It’s either that or their ‘Absolut Lobster Ravioli’, filled with big chunks of Maine lobster and a Pink Sauce zapped with Absolut Vodka. They also like to add Bourbon to their Apple Raisin Bread Pudding. The beer selection, martinis and daiquiris aren’t too shabby either. So yeah, Gables Diner is a comfy family restaurant but that doesn’t mean they don’t like to shake things up every once in a while.
